The Sons of Norway Maihaugan Lodge welcomes you for a Syttende Mai potluck picnic celebration at Shawnee Mission Park, shelter 5. Feasting, games, and dancing are in the plan. Save the date and watch for more details soon!

Syttende Mai (SET-nuh MY) means 17th of May in Norwegian, and it stands for the historic day in 1814 when some Norwegians signed the Kongeriket Norgest Grunnlov, making Norway's constitution the second-oldest written constitution in the world. Each year in Norway, this day is celebrated with red, white, and blue ribbons and flags, parades, traditional costumes, food, and music.
